Smith University (JCSU) on a project where we hosted two interns to assist with work on the BERRY study.\u00a0 Indhu Gopal, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Health &amp; Human Performance Department selected Erick\u00a0 Velazquillo and A\u2019Tyan Kennedy, upper-level students at JCSU. When we asked Erick about his experience in the lab, he responded to say, \u201cI was immensely interested in participating as an intern for the UNC Nutrition Research Institute to further my knowledge of research. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for an organization dedicated to improving the life of individuals through research. \u201c\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-1713-0-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" ><div class=\"textwidget\"><h4><span style=\"color: #b76c5e;\">Intern Spotlight<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><b>Dana Cobb<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheathamlab.com\/?attachment_id=2745\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2745\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2745\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cheathamlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/InternDana-200x300.png\" alt=\"InternDana\" width=\"150\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A leader in her undergraduate research lab, Dana has presented first authored research at conferences around the country on the effects environmental enrichment can have on young adult and adolescent rat behavior and cognition. She is extending the scope of her interests to include the effects of fatty acids on cognitive function in both humans and rats by joining the Cheatham Lab as an intern.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Fran Bullard<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cheathamlab.com\/?attachment_id=2746\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2746\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2746 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cheathamlab.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/InternFran.png\" alt=\"InternFran\" width=\"150\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fran recently graduated from Barnard College with a degree in Biology. In addition to interning in the Cheatham lab this summer, she is applying to medical school where she hopes to begin next fall.
